7 Different Types of Donuts and Where to Find Them

Glonuts (glow-in-the-dark donuts) are the latest donut trend. Created by Black Star Pastry in Australia, the neon pastries’ icing is actually a yuzu glaze which gets its glow from vitamin B.

We don’t have glonuts yet but we’re surely broadening our donut options with these unique sweet and savoury dough treats.

Six by Sera is a five-month old cafe that has been making its mark on the food scene as of late, with their range of savoury donuts including a cheeseburger donut, maple bacon donut, and truffle smoked salmon donut, at $2.90 each.

Galaxy donuts @ Sinseh: The Grocery

You can get some otherworldly donuts at Sinseh: The Grocery, which sells big galaxy donuts at $4 and mini versions at $3. With the perfect balance of colouring, icing, edible glittler and sprinkles, you’ll feel like the stars have aligned for once. They are flexible with colours and design specifications, so just walk in and place your requests with them or call in advance before coming down to collect.

Sweet potato and red bean donuts @ Pullman Bakery

Famous for its Hokkaido curry buns, Pullman Bakery also serves Japanese-style donuts too. From cream, sweet potato or red bean donuts to the more traditional sugar or choconut (chocolate and nut) ring donuts, their donuts are light and not overly greasy.

Some of their menu items include Black Sesame Softserve atop Signature Mochi Donut, drizzled with matcha sauce and Yuan Yang Softserve with freshly fried Mochi donuts for $9. Their flavoured soft serves, which come in thick and smooth swirls, are available on a rotational basis.

Bombolinis @ Doughnut Shack

Doughnut Shack covers every base when it comes to donuts. They bake their donuts daily instead of frying them and flavours include Chilli Crab Bombolini ($2.50), Crème Brûlée Bombolini ($2) and Nutella Bombolini ($2). In addition, they also serve Baked Doughnut Cones which comes with soft serve ice cream ($4.50) and two toppings.

Glazed donuts @ Krispy Kreme

If you’ve ever tried the original glazed donut at all three major donut chains in Singapore (Krispy Kreme, J.CO and Dunkin Donuts), you’ll know that Krispy Kreme takes the cake for best glazed donut, with its sweet yet not overpowering glaze coated evenly on the donut and its soft and moist interior.
