8 Places to Celebrate National Day This Year

7 months ago by Anna Fernandez

National Day is around the corner and there’s really no better way to celebrate Singapore’s birthday than by engaging in everyone’s favourite pastime: eating! Here are some places you can get your patriotism on while chomping on the best the nation has to offer.

JPOT is launching Singapore’s most iconic dish, the Chilli Crab, as a soup base. The local hotpot specialist, known for their “Hotpot Singapore Style”, has introduced the Chilli Crab Soup Base ($19.80++) for everyone to enjoy chilli crab while having their favourite hotpot dishes. “We believe our customers will love having the best of both worlds in one meal,” commented Mr Ang Kiam Meng, JUMBO’s Group CEO.

Taking centre stage at UNA is the Paella de Pollo de Singapur, a take on Hainanese chicken rice. UNA’s rendition is a generous skillet of fragrant bomba rice studded with roasted chicken and cubes of fresh cucumber, accompanied with a piquant housemade chilli sauce. Lovers of the ubiquitous Laksa will enjoy the robust and spicy Sautéed Gambas with Laksa Paste ($22++), featuring succulent tiger prawns stir-fried with a ‘rempah’ (spice paste) made from a handed down family recipe.
