TFJ EATS: Al Borgo Little Napoli

1 year ago by Don

This week on The Food Journal Eats, we embark on a journey to the west for a sumptuous meal Italian cuisine. Located at level #03-00 in SIM Management House, this is definitely a rare find.

Al Borgo serves Italian home-style cuisine that is sure to satisfy your tingling taste buds. They have two other outlets, one at Bukit Timah Road, and another at Telok Blangah Drive. Since we’re at Al Bogo Namly,  we decide to try their Special Set Lunch Menu that is exclusive only to this outlet.

Spaghetti alla Carbonara
The presentation says it all. This has got to be on of the promising looking carbonara I have ever seen. We took a slurp of the pasta and it is nothing less than satisfying. We know how some places had their carbonara sauce tasting either too bland or too “gelat”. This one tasted just right

Next, we move on to the bacon. The chef is really generous with their portion. Unlike some restaurants, the bacon was evenly spread and it tastes like how it should be. A tad smokey but yet not the extent where it tasted like it’s burnt. The skin is also well marinated in the cream sauce which gives an extra kick to the taste.

Risotto ai Funghi Porcini
Aside from the special set menu, we also tried something that was on the main menu of Al Borgo. Risotto, origin from the north of Italy, this Italian rice dish is famous for its creamy consistency and the grains being evenly separated but yet not too watery either. The one that was served to us tastes exquisite. True to the origin, the grains were cooked well and it still remains the resistant bite to it, if you get what we mean. The porcini mushrooms added a bit of the meaty and savory taste to the dish as it was supposed to taste extremely buttery and creamy with the parmesan cheese that comes with the cream sauce.

With every Pasta Set Lunch that you order, you will get a soup of the day, choice of pasta, and coffee/tea. For more information regarding the menu, you can click on the link here: Al Borgo Set Lunch Menu.

The perfect place for your one-stop Italian casual dining and place to gather your friends for a catch-up. The restaurant caters from 50 to 100 pax, with weekends being almost filled, so be sure to have your reservations made before coming down so that you will not end up walking away with disappointment.

Al Borgo Namly also hosts wine events and they have one coming up soon. Mark your calendars, on the 30th January 2018, Tuesday, 7 pm. Al Borgo is hosting a wine pairing dinner, Flavours of Tuscany. This event will not just be only on wine pairing but also a cultural, historical and engaging one. Guests will be sharing some of “the unknown” about Italy. It can be about their culture, places of interests, food, wine, people, anything! For more information in regards to the Wine Pairing Dinner, the link is right over here:
