Experience a different side of Bali away from the beach at the town of Ubud. Located in the uplands of Bali, Indonesia, it is known as a centre for traditional crafts and dance. And in the midst of all that there is Alaya Resort Ubud, a sanctuary of serenity. Just minutes away from numerous attractions like the Ubud Palace and Agung Rai Museum of Art – surrounded by rainforest, terraced rice paddies, Hindu temples, shrines and local independent cafes, the award winning resort is the perfect location for a getaway from Singapore.

How can we not talk about food when it comes to a holiday. From local classics and ethnic fare created by celebrated Indonesian gourmand and food ambassador William Wongso the restaurants Alaya Resort Ubud are the perfect place to indulge in a gastronomic adventure.

Fronting buzzy Jalan Hanoman, Pengosekan and Ubud Monkey Forest area, relaxed restaurant Petani is the perfect setting to enjoy the diverse flavours of the Indonesian archipelago, with a menu driven by island-fresh produce and seasonal specialties. Petani serves a generous set menu breakfast each morning, and then home-style regional cuisine with a modern twist throughout the remainder of the day. There is also live music almost every night of the week with uplifting performances by some of Bali’s finest musicians.

Freshly launched in July, Manisan restaurant will feature time-honoured recipes from across the Indonesian archipelago and offer what its owners refer to as “culinary theatre” in its traditional food preparation and impromptu cooking surprises led by culinary legend William Wongso. A household name in Indonesia, Mr. Wongso began his celebrated career as a humble street food authority and gourmet baker. He soon became a man on a mission to get the word out about Indonesian food becoming widely recognised amongst Jakarta foodies and business leaders as the country’s makan ambassador.

If you are looking for a one-stop destination for relaxation, Alaya does have packages for honeymoon-ing couples as well. Just to name a couple, the package includes a special dinner set up in your room balcony for just the two of you and a spa session with their award winning spa, DaLa Spa. Other than being a place for a honeymoon or wedding, they also organise an array of different activities including sessions of yoga, meditation, Balinese dance, cooking and so many more.
