Kicking off the celebratory mood for the end of the year, Glenfiddich unveiled its newest release: Grand Cru, Scotch Whisky at DFS at the Changi Airport early last month.
This exclusive and innovative spirit has matured for 23 years in American and European oak casks, before making its way to French cuvée casks – known for producing some of the world’s best sparkling wines – for a luxurious finishing. Grand Cru is the first release in the new Grand range. The next whisky in the series will launch in late 2020.
The Grand Cru is part of Glenfiddich’s Experimental Series and follows other Experimental Series expressions launched in the past; namely Fire & Cane – a smoky single malt Scotch finished in rum casks, Glenfiddich IPA Experiment and Glenfiddich Project XX launched in 2016 and Glenfiddich Winter Storm which was released in 2017.
Glendfiddich has been the leading single malt Scotch whisky globally and its”Experimental Series,” has been a game changer, catapulting it into a brand that brings exquisite premium drinks beyond the single malt to the table. The brand, which has been around since 1887 is further making a mark in the luxury drinks market with the global launch of the first Whisky, the Grand Cru from its Grand series of high-end whiskies.
The Glenfiddich Grand Cru has notes of apple blossom, freshly baked bread and candied lemon while the taste is of layered rich vanilla oak, sweet brioche, sandalwood, pear sorbet and white grape. Bottled at ABV40%, the Grand Cru’s finish is “long, opulent and sweet” bearing testimony to the finest flavors of Scotland and France and the finishing touches of the special French casks.
The deep gold colored Grand Cru whisky is presented in a sheer black glass bottle and a black box featuring a golden firework design.
Grand Cru is available to order online from the Glenfiddich website and from luxury whisky retail outlets and high-end venues for US$299.99 per 750ml bottle.
